Want to know more about the wind lion god? Do you know how many statues of wind lion gods are there in Kinmen National Park? This year, Kinmen National Park Headquarters hosted the "Kinmen National Park Digital Archives Project." Before launching the webpage, the National Taiwan University of Arts (the project manager) applies the digital materials and promotes online activities for "Visit the Wind Lion God." Besides introducing the physical "Search for Wind Lion Gods" program, the Headquarters also want to preserve and introduce the unique culture of Wind Lion God in Kinmen. Any bloggers or users of Facebook or Plurk have an opportunity to win a delicate souvenir from Kinmen. Please visit the site: http://windlion.kmnp.gov.tw/files/920-1000-1.php for more information.
Kinmen Island lacks mountain protection and was not covered by dense forests in the early times. As a result, the northeast monsoon is especially strong. Strong winter monsoon winds blew the topsoil off. Sand dunes began to develop, creating devastating sand storms. To protect against these storms, Wind Lion Gods were built in the northeast of village. Wind lion gods is a unique culture on Kinmen.
In addition to the physical "Search for Wind Lion Gods" program, Kinmen National Park Headquarters authorized the National Taiwan University of Arts to create exclusive stickers for "Visit the Wind Lion God" online. The website applies the latest fashion of "web stickers" to build a network. Each sticker represents a wind lion god in the Park. Select your own sticker and place it on the blog margins; it is beautiful and artistic. Wind Lion God e-cards are also available for downloads and collection.
The online activity is from now until December 15. All participants have an opportunity to win. Please join us if you are interested in the Kinmen culture or Wind Lion God. Kinmen National Park also welcomes everyone to visit Kinmen and take a closer look of wind lion gods in the Park, to feel its unique charm and cultural beauty.
