Kinmen National Park 2021 High school Student Biodiversity Science Education Activity has a limit of 25 participant Registration opens today

In the heat of summer, Kinmen National Park invites local high school students to put on wellies and walk onto the cool mud of the oyster fields at Beishan to learn about tidal zone wildlife and Kinmen’s important traditional rock oyster culture! The Kinmen National Park Headquarters and 12th Ocean Conservation Work Station of the Ocean Conservation Administration of the Ocean Affairs Council will hold the Kinmen National Park 2021 High School Student Biodiversity Science Education Activity September 18-29 2021. Registration opens today. The number of participants is limited to 25. Kinmen area high school students are invited to take part!

This activity combines local traditional rock oyster culture and the partnership relations of related organizations. Students will be taught skills for observing and recording tidal zone wildlife and learn about the ecological resources and diversity of Kinmen’s tidal zone. An experienced oyster farmer will lead students into the oyster fields of Beishan where they will learn about the traditionally strong connection between natural resources and the life culture of local people. Then, Kinmen County Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Association will share its experience of injured animal rescue and advocacy. Through ecological observation and recording, experience of rock oyster culture and sharing real cases of wildlife rescue, student environmental awareness will be aroused and they will be given an understanding  of the value of resources sustainability and encouraged to think about how to maintain a harmonious relationship between people and nature. Echoing the theme of 202 International Biodiversity Day We're part of the solution for Nature, it is hoped to gradually build local seed talent that assists with promotion of conservation, and environmental survey and monitoring.
