Kinmen National Park is 26 years old! Three generations spend warm weekend time together

Established in 1996, Kinmen National Park is now 26 years old! To thank locals for their support and care, Kinmen National Park Headquarters held a celebratory activity at Zhongshanlin Recreation Area on October 17, 2021 to which locals of three generations were invited to celebrate the national park’s birthday.

Since the national park was established, with the efforts of past directors and staff and listening to the voices of locals, traditional settlements have been preserved and given new life; battlefield site restoration and reuse has also been actively promoted; cross-area integration of conservation, monitoring of important species and culture and history studies have been implemented; varied environmental education activities have been held and, through evaluation of environmental education venues, various operations refined. The park’s role and responsibility have been been fully fulfilled.

Kinmen National Park Headquarters said the event was held to thank locals for their support over the past 26 years. On the day, Kinmen Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra was invited to perform the Come Back to Kinmen suite. This orchestra is Kinmen’s first to be made up of professional musicians. Next came Little Otter’s Rainbow from Kinmen Hoopoe Theater Group; this group is made up of local people who love theater and have a passion and vision for performing; the main character is Kinmen’s Eurasian Otter. Presented in a childish way, the show also conveys the importance of protecting otters and how to be environmentally friendly. The performance was well-received by children.

The Headquarters said that a group photograph of attendees with the members of the Hoopoe Theater Group was arranged to record everyone’s joint memory, leaving behind warm images. Locals were thanked for their guidance and care for the national park over the past 26 years, bringing the event to a perfect end.
