Kinmen National Park’s epidemic prevention work to continue during Chinese New Year and visitors are welcome
Kinmen National Park Headquarters said that during the Chinese New Year continuous holiday, apart from all sites being closed on Chinese New Year’s Eve for environmental cleaning; small enclosed spaces including Mashan Tunnel, Nanshantou Tunnel and Qionglin Yangzhuolou Tunnel (a combat tunnel) will be closed from the first to fifth day of Chinese New Year. Also, in coordination with the Army Kinmen Command’s winter epidemic prevention plan, Qingtian Hall, Mine-clearing Bridge Museum and Mingde Park will be closed from now until February 18, 2021, while other exhibition halls will open normally, from 8:30am to 5pm.
In response to COVID-19, Kinmen National will enhance environmental cleaning and disinfection work for each attraction for the Chinese New Year period and indoor multimedia rooms will require that alternate seats be left empty to maintain social distancing. Face masks must be worn and temperature checks and real name registration required for entry into each attraction so that visitors obey the regulations of the Central Epidemic Command Center.
In the Lunar New Year period the national park attracts a large number of visitors, therefore the Headquarters will implement traffic dispersal measures in coordination with the Kinmen County Police Department and the 4th Brigade of the 7
th
Headquarters of the Special Police of the Ministry of the Interior. Also, in coordination with the Kinmen Defense Command and in response to COVID-19, February 12-16 and February 20-21, only the roads on the left side of Taiwu Public Cemetery will be opened from 6am to 5pm as temporary car parks for hill walkers (see map below). Visitors heading here for recreation are asked to cooperate with traffic dispersal matters and to also wear a mask. The Army Kinmen Defense Command will take temperature of visitors at the control post. The parking area is in an army-controlled area. Visitors should not use drones. Please make good use of public transport.
The Lunar New Year period is the Kinmen northeast monsoon season. The Headquarters reminds visitors to bring warm clothes and their own personal medicines and to pay attention to traffic safety. Travel information for the national park can be obtained on the official website (
http://www.kmnp.gov.tw
) or by calling the enquiry line.
