An Appointment with the Summer Fairy- Kinmen National Park Blue-tailed Bee Eater Conservation Promotion Event Launched on May 20

The blue-tailed bee eater (merops philippinus) is a unique summer migratory bird in Kinmen. It flies to Kinmen every April to dig holes, build nests, and breed. Because of its bright feather color and special breeding behavior, it has become the most eye-catching sight of Kinmen in summer. In order to let more people know about the ecology of the blue-tailed bee-eater, and to promote the correct ethics and attitude towards bird watching, the Kinmen National Park Headquarters, National Park Service (the Headquarters) will hold an event from May 20 (Saturday) to July 9 (Sunday). Every Saturday, Sunday and Dragon Boat Festival holiday, experts from the Kinmen County Wild Bird Society will provide wonderful ecological tours at Cihu Triangular bunker from 8:30 to 12:00.

In addition, to encourage parents and children to go outdoors and care for the natural ecology, two parent-child activities will be held from 09:30 to 11:00 am on May 28 (Sunday) and June 4 (Sunday). Through activity design and explanation, the interest of parents and children will be inspired, and then they will go on to understand the importance of blue-tailed bee-eater conservation. Finally, through painting, small works of their own of summertime with the blue-tailed bee-eater will be created by participants. Families with children aged 6 to 6th grade in the Kinmen area are welcome to sign up. Each person can register up to 4 people, 30 people per session. Registration is open from now on until the quota is full. Registration [link], please contact 0910-767815 for event inquiries, Miss Chen.
