The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching. Kinmen National Park Headquarters, National Park Service (the Headquarters) has announced that the hiking trails on Taiwu Mountain which are open to the public are: "Taiwu Mountain Hiking Trail (Yuzhang Road)", "Caicuo Hiking Trail" and "Doumen Hiking Trail" The other 3 trails are regularly maintained and managed, and complete guidelines and mileage markers have been set up. The public is welcome to follow the open routes for mountaineering activities.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in challenging and exploring the secrets of Taiwu Mountain. However, there have been occasional incidents of people getting lost. The Headquarters strongly recommends that individuals opt for established hiking trails, choose suitable routes, and venture with others to ensure their safety while climbing Taiwu Mountain. Taiwu Mountain is a unique scenic area, and in accordance with the Kinmen National Park protection, utilization, and control principles, visitors are not permitted to leave designated trails or scenic areas. Additionally, activities that harm the forest, such as tree felling and spray painting, are strictly prohibited in the area. Unauthorized artificial facilities, such as climbing ropes, are not allowed to be set up. To adhere to these regulations, The Headquarters has installed warning signs on the approved trails on Taiwu Mountain. It is essential to note that any accidents that occur during mountaineering activities outside these approved trails will not be eligible for damage compensation under the National Compensation Law, and individuals must take responsibility for themselves. It is crucial to prioritize safety by selecting secure routes for mountaineering activities.

The Headquarters stated that there are climbing ropes or facilities set up by private individuals in violation of regulations on non-open routes in the Taiwu Mountain area. There is a risk that people may use them improperly and cause accidents. In accordance with the conclusions of Kinmen County Government's May 5, 2020 " Taiwu Mountain Open Mountaineering Area Seminar ,“they will be removed after subsequent inspections with the Kinmen Defense Command to ensure the safety of climbers.
