A 30-day public consultation period was announced on June 21, as part of the Kinmen National Park Plan (3rd overall review)
The implementation of the
Kinmen National Park Plan was first announced on Oct. 18, 1995, with the first and second comprehensive reviews taking place in 2003 and 2012.
The
Kinmen National Park Plan (3rd overall review) is conducted based on the provisions of Article 6 of the National Park Law Implementation Rules and in response to current trends and social changes, including the needs of economic development, ecological conservation, and in concert with the current promotion of the Spatial Planning Act. The review also seeks to protect the rights of those who originally lived on land designated for the park and will comprehensively examine the National Park Plan, including protection and use control principles, area and border parameters etc.
The comprehensive review of the plan will focus on the islands of Kinmen and Lieyu, with Kinmen area including Guningtou, Taiwushan, Gugang, Mashan and Lieyu Township.

The Kinmen National Park Administration (KNPA) held 12 seminars during the
Kinmen National Park Plan (3rd overall review) advanced planning stage, where different opinions were solicited. As of today, more than 70 proposals related to the comprehensive review are a matter of record and in accordance with existing procedures will be submitted for deliberation.
The current period of public consultation was originally supposed to be in mid May, but was delayed until June 21 because of the spread of COVID-19 in Taiwan. The public consultation plan diagram indicates that related information is available at Kinmen County Government, Kinmen County Land Administration Bureau, the five township government offices and the KNPA. Submissions by members of the public, government agencies and groups to the KNPA must include the name and address of the submitting party and will be used as reference materials for the Kinmen National Park Plan (3rd overall review).
