Why do people need to wear a safety helmet while riding a bicycle on Lieyu’s tank road?

The local people call Lieyu’s tank road as the “coastal road”. The road was originally used for military purposes in connecting the various footholds and to let tanks move around. The width of the military tank road is about 4 meters, paved with two cement layers, with gravels at the center and natural soil and grass on the sides. The up-and-down road condition is rather challenging, where tourists often accidently fall down from their bike. In order to prevent serious injuries and to protect head safety, the center informs visitors the cautions when lending bicycles. Also, helmets are freely distributed for safety.
