The purpose of establishing a national park is to reserve the nation’s unique natural landscape, wildlife and historical sites for future generations in purposes of science, education, recreation, and intellectual assets (sustainable use of resources).Because of its special geological location and history, Kinmen has remained rich in historic monuments, traditional villages, battle monuments and natural resources. Therefore in 1993, after the government lifted military administration, the plans of establishing a national park were implemented. In October 18, 1995, the Kinmen National Park Headquarters was established for operations and management, with the purpose to permanently preserve and adequately use Kinmen’s rich cultural assets, special battle monuments and the diverse natural ecosystem.
