Kinmen National Park Headquarters and National Park Service (HQ) is conducting the 4th lease tender for operating and managing bed and breakfasts and retail stores in 2024. The properties for lease include the following 4 locations: No. 64 Ocuo, No. 48 Shanhou, No. 85 and 86 Qianshui, and No. 46-5 Beishan. The tender period is from today until 5:00 PM on December 31, 2024 (Tuesday). A site visit is scheduled for December 20, 2024 (Friday). Interested parties should make an appointment in advance by phone.
The descriptions and suitable uses for each property are as follows:
1.No. 64 Ocuo (Bed and Breakfast / Retail Store / Cultural and Creative Office): A restored Minnan-style traditional building from 2018. The one main hall and four small front rooms building are located in the Ocuo settlement, close to Ocuo Beach, Zhaishan Tunnel, and Gugang Tower, making it suitable for tourism development.
2.No. 48 Shanhou (Bed and Breakfast / Retail Store / Cultural and Creative Office): A restored Minnan-style traditional building from 2005. Located in Shanhou settlement, it is near the Shanhou Folk Culture Village, Shishan (Mt. Lion) Howitzer Fort, Tianmo Mountain, and Mashan Observation Station, making it ideal for visitors to stroll around the settlement, appreciate traditional architecture, and enjoy coastal views.
3.No. 85 and 86 Qianshui (Bed and Breakfast / Retail Store / Cultural and Creative Office): No. 85 Qianshui is a restored Minnan-style Double Courtyard Grand House traditional building from 2003. No. 86 Qianshui is a restored Minnan-style traditional “courtyard house with two side buildings” from 2005. These two buildings are located in the Shuitou settlement. There is a local saying: “The people in Shuitou are rich, but owning one of the fancy Western-style houses is not easy”. These buildings are close to Shuitou Wharf, offering convenient transportation and making it suitable for tourists to stroll around the settlement and experience the cultural landscape.
4.No. 46-5 Beishan (Bed and Breakfast / Retail Store / Cultural and Creative Office): This building is a county-level historic site and is located in the area of the famous Battle of Guningtou in 1949. The Minnan-style traditional Double Courtyard Grand House building was restored in 2005 and the Western-style building remains a war relic. (The lease tender covers the large house, excluding the Western-style building). The building is located in the Guningtou settlement, close to the Guningtou Battle Museum, Beishan Broadcasting Tower, and Shuangli Wetlands Nature Center, making it suitable for visitors to explore the historical Guningtou battle site, birdwatching, and learning about Kinmen's natural ecology.
Over the years, the HQ has actively promoted the revitalization and reuse of traditional buildings and military camps. By leasing bed and breakfasts and retail stores, the aim is to improve building utilization and stimulate the local economy. We welcome the public to participate actively in the tender.
