Kinmen National Park Headquarters’ “2025 Shooting Experience Education Activity” Leads Kinmen High School Teachers and Students to Learn About Jia Village Combat Training Experience Field
From April 8 to 18, 2025, the Kinmen National Park Headquarters (the HQ) under the Ministry of the Interior’s National Park Service held 11 sessions of the “2025 Shooting Experience Education Activity” at the Jia Village Combat Training Experience Field. A total of 407 teachers and students from National Kinmen Senior High School participated in the event. This year’s activity took place in the newly opened Jia Village Combat Training Experience Field, guiding participants through various buildings to understand their design concepts. The experience included engaging activities such as grenade throwing, a gas chamber puzzle, air gun shooting, and water balloon battles, all integrated with the architectural environment.
The HQ explained that the Jia Village Combat Training Experience Field, formerly known as the Panshan Training Ground, was modeled after village combat training sites established by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War era. It was used to practice urban combat skills in town alleys and also served as a field training site for the Self-Defense Forces. After renovations were completed this year, the field was used for the first time to design an environmental education program, which allowed National Kinmen Senior High School teachers and students to gain early exposure to this unique historical battlefield site. The program creatively introduced basic concepts of net-zero carbon emissions, natural carbon sinks, and plastic reduction. It also included activities such as the “Ah Rong Really Wants to Be Discharged from the Military” military training ground exploration puzzle and historical films like “1985 Kinmen Offshore Island Ban Chao Force Jingcheng Company Combat Drill.” These efforts helped participants understand the value and importance of preserving the Jia Village Combat Training Experience Field, promoting the concepts of national park preservation and conservation.
