"Hello, Kinmen!" — Kinmen National Park Traditional Guesthouse Festival Launches This May! Explore century-old settlements and stay in historic homes.

This year (2025) marks the 30th anniversary of Kinmen National Park Headquarters (the HQ), under the Ministry of the Interior's National Park Service, and the 20th anniversary of traditional guesthouse operations. To celebrate these dual milestones, the HQ will host the "Hello, Kinmen!" Traditional Guesthouse Festival from May 3 to May 26, 2025. The festival will feature an opening ceremony, settlement walking tours with stamp collection, and two exclusive guided walking tours and hands-on cultural experiences on May 3 and May 10. The public is warmly invited to step into Kinmen's unique settlement atmosphere and experience the charm of traditional buildings and local culture.

The phrase Lí hó means "hello" in the Minnan (Hokkien) dialect — a standard greeting among Kinmen locals and a warm welcome to visitors. During the festival, guests will tour various guesthouses nestled in these traditional settlements, experience the beauty of Minnan-style homes, join guided walking tours, enjoy DIY craft workshops, and engage in conversations with guesthouse owners to feel the rhythm of life in century-old homes and hear the stories behind their preservation and operation. The HQ hopes that this immersive cultural experience will help travelers connect with the deeper stories of Kinmen's historic homes, enhancing the brand identity of Kinmen's traditional guesthouses and leaving visitors with unforgettable memories that inspire a return to this peaceful island in the future.

On Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10, two special guided walking tours will take visitors through the Shuitou, Zhushan, and Guningtou settlements. Guests will step into local guesthouses and be warmly welcomed by their hosts, exploring stunning historic architecture hidden behind time-worn gates. Each tour is limited to 100 participants. A NT$100 registration fee applies. Registration opens on April 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM (noon). Everyone is invited to register. Online registration only – sign up via the following link: [link] or scan the QR code for more information and updates.

Many participating guesthouses and shops will offer exclusive discounts, allowing travelers to enjoy the slow beauty of guesthouse life and the heartfelt hospitality of Kinmen. Additionally, the event will introduce a LINE@ Digital Stamp Card. Visitors can collect points by participating in walking tours, staying at official Kinmen National Park guesthouses, or making qualifying purchases at designated shops. Points can be redeemed for limited-edition souvenirs, such as the "Pottery Cup", and participants can enjoy further discounts on guesthouse stays and shop purchases—making their Kinmen trip even more rewarding and memorable.

To make the celebration even more special, travelers who stay two consecutive nights at the same officially leased Kinmen National Park guesthouse between May 2 and May 27 will receive one complimentary bottle of Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor per room (limited to 60 bottles, while supplies last) to enhance the trip's memory.
