Kinmen National Park
Headquarters (KNP HQ), under the National Park Service, Ministry of the
Interior, announced that the newly appointed Director-General, Huang Tzu-chuan,
assumed office on January 16, 2026. She was promoted from her previous position
as Deputy Director-General of KNP HQ. The former Director-General, Cheng
Jui-chang, was reassigned on the same day to serve as Director-General of
Yushan National Park Headquarters, thus completing the official handover.
This personnel
reshuffle, together with the appointments of directors at the Yushan,
Yangmingshan, and Taijiang National Park Headquarters, was formally recognized
at a joint inauguration and handover ceremony held on the afternoon of January
19, 2026, at the National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior. Following
their appointments, the director-generals will continue to advance the
management and operations of their respective national parks.
Director-General Huang
holds a master’s degree from the Institute of Culture and History of Hokkien at
National Quemoy University, which provides her with a strong academic
foundation in Kinmen’s local cultural context. She has long been engaged in
conservation, interpretation, and management within the national park system.
Her previous positions include Officer and Section Chief of the Interpretation
and Education Section at KNP HQ; Section Chief of the National Parks Division
of the Construction and Planning Agency; and, following the agency’s
restructuring, Section Chief of the Conservation and Interpretation Division
under the National Park Service, as well as Deputy Director-General of Kinmen
National Park Headquarters. She has extensive experience in park operations,
policy implementation, and inter-agency coordination. Her expertise spans
conservation management, interpretive education, and cultural resource
interpretation—areas closely aligned with the characteristics of Kinmen
National Park—and she is expected to further strengthen the park’s core
functions.
KNP HQ stated that Kinmen National Park upholds as its core value the
preservation of traditional settlements and battlefield landscapes and culture,
alongside nature conservation. Under Director-General Huang’s leadership, and
in collaboration with community partners, local authorities, and civil
organizations, the park will continue to promote nature conservation and
cultural preservation, develop eco-friendly tourism and sustainable use
strategies, enhance management effectiveness and service quality, and steadily
advance the long-term operational goals of the national park.
